Andersen employees have been volunteering with nonprofit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity for more than 20 years.
Forty-three Andersen employees from the Bayport area volunteered at three St. Paul homes in April and May with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity. Tasks included shoveling snow in preparation for lumber delivery, making temporary protective coverings for a staircase and railing, removing ceiling and wall stucco from a stairwell, painting a deck, rebuilding a retaining wall, and hanging a door.
After hours of hard work, here is what some of our employees had to say:
“It was amazing! Not only did I get a hands-on learning experience that can’t be taught in a classroom, but I also got to be a part of such wonderful program!” ― Tiffany, customer service representative II
“There is no shortcut for hard work that leads to success.” ― Francisco, customer service representative II
“I enjoyed doing the work & knowing it will be helping a family who needs a place to live makes it very satisfying. I would volunteer again to help out on another build.” ― Tom, custom product drafter
”I am extremely appreciative of receiving the opportunity to participate in this build. It was amazing for us to come together as a group and make a difference in our community. I am humbled to be part of the bigger picture of what it means to “help my neighbor.” ― Brianna, customer service representative II
“What an awesome experience to work with my co-workers in a different capacity and at the same time give back to the community. Neighbors stopped by to thank us for bringing the house back to life and improving their neighborhood. Watching people who have never used power tools grow with confidence was a great thing to see. Hearing them say they want to continue to do more Habitat (builds) in the future was worth every minute spent there.” ― Beverly, customer service representative II
Andersen Corporation’s volunteer t-shirt states, “Put Your Heart Into It” and employees did just that. When asked what inspired them to volunteer, Beverly commented:
“I can’t speak for everyone, but the majority of the team felt great doing something for a future family as well as saving an old house from being torn down. As a company, we showed we not only supply the windows and doors but we also take an active role in creating the difference in the neighborhood. I can’t thank Andersen enough for giving us the opportunity to be a part of it.”
