Andersen Windows Showcases New 400 Series Products, Capabilities

Orlando, Fl. (January 2011)  At IBS 2011, Andersen Windows showcases new Andersen® 400 Series product capabilities to meet the ever-changing needs of today’s builders and remodelers. New additions to the 400 Series product line include a new exterior trim system, custom sizing for replacement casements and a new tilt-wash insert.

“At this year’s International Builders’ Show we are showcasing the extensive capabilities of the 400 Series product line,” says Peter Favilla, vice president Marketing at Andersen. “With continued innovation coupled with the quality and value professionals have come to expect, Andersen windows continue to be the number one clad-wood window among builders and remodelers inNorth America.

“Whether it’s the ease-of-installation and energy efficiency, or the strong limited warranty and service support, Andersen windows are consistently rated the highest among builders and remodelers,” continues Favilla.

Tilt-Wash Insert Window

Andersen introduces the Tilt-Wash Insert window; a custom-sized (to 1/8 inch) window with a spectrum of design and feature options that delivers style, performance and value just the way remodelers and homeowners have requested. Each window comes with pre-drilled installation holes and an install kit containing nearly everything needed to complete the job: instructions, screws, shims and backer rod. In addition, each unit comes with its own exterior stop covers for a clean, finished look when the job is done.

400 Series Replacement Casement

Another new 400 Series product adding to the already comprehensive replacement offering is the new Replacement Casement, prepped for quick, easy installation and available in custom sizing to 1/8 inch.

This new casement is available without an installation flange, pre-drilled with through-the-jamb installation holes allowing for installation from inside or outside the home. Special replacement extension jambs preserve original alignment of trim and paint lines. An installation kit comes with each window and includes innovative, self-hanging shims for consistent accuracy in installation, backer rod to increase the durability of sealant joints, fasteners and instructions.

Exterior Trim System

A key, new Andersen 400 Series product addition is an exterior trim system. The Andersen® Exterior Trim System installs in about 5 minutes, comes in a wide range of styles including flat trim and brick mould and is available factory finished in 11 colors. It’s available fully assembled, or in pre-cut/pre-drilled kits, eliminating measuring, cutting, mitering and filling nail holes while providing an exceptional fit and finish — all independent of the water management system of the windows and patio doors. Trim is also available for use with Andersen 200 Series windows and doors.

Andersen® 200 Series Narroline® Window Conversion Kit

Andersen Windows also offers a double-hung window conversion kit allowing homeowners to upgrade their Andersen 200 Series Narroline® windows installed as far back as 1968, with state-of-the-art window technology, while maintaining the look of the original windows. Andersen has sold millions of double-hung windows since the late 1960s, and so its conversion kit is applicable to many.

Each kit includes two window sash (upper and lower), left and right jamb assemblies and other components for the conversion. In addition, the installed sash tilt in, for easy cleaning. While in many cases a contractor may be hired for the job, someone handy may also be able to tackle this project.

Options and Accessories

There also is a wide range of options and accessories available for Andersen 400 Series products. A variety of glass options are offered for energy efficiency, coastal performance and privacy. TruScene® insect screens are available for 400 Series windows, offering 50 percent more clarity than a conventional Andersen insect screen.  The grilles for 400 Series products are available in a wide selection of standard and custom patterns and the hardware comes in a dozen different finishes and a variety of styles to complement any décor.
