Andersen Windows Home Style Pattern Books Put Architectural Detail in the Hands of Homeowners, Contractors

BAYPORT, Minn. (June 24, 2013) — Andersen Windows today announced it has expanded its popular series of Home Style pattern books with six new spiral bound volumes. Homeowners, designers, builders, remodelers and architects now may order print versions through the company’s website of the Prairie, American Farmhouse, French Eclectic, Queen Anne, Shingle, and Tudor styles, which join the Craftsman Bungalow and Georgian Federal styles previously available.

The books, part of the Andersen Home Style Library, are accessible four ways: online as interactive resources; downloadable for free; spiral-bound hard copies may be ordered through the Andersen website of eight volumes; or select designs are now available as iPad® apps. Each pattern book is dedicated to a single style and contains illustrations and descriptions of the architectural elements that make up each style including proportions, groupings, window and door positioning, accent windows, color palettes, combinations and grille patterns; interior and exterior trim details; entry door, hardware and art glass options.

“We now have eight Andersen Home Style Library pattern books available in print and future plans to expand the offering,” said Jay Libby, creative services manager at Andersen Windows. “Our intent with this collection has always been to make style accessible and easy to dream. Providing the information in a variety of formats continues that commitment. By connecting home styles with the product resources in our A-Series and E-Series/Eagle® product lines our intent is to make it easy to choose the right products for the style of the home.”

Pattern books are not a new concept. They’ve been around since ancient Rome providing consistent resources for effectively communicating the elements of architectural design. “Building or remodeling is a collaborative effort between homeowners, architects, builders or remodelers. In most cases the homeowner is driving the project, but they are often the least knowledgeable about the process,” Libby said. “When people are handed the pattern books a light goes on for them. We see it happen all the time. They now have a resource that gives them the language to share ideas and dreams, and the power to articulate what they want to everyone involved in the process. That confidence can give the whole project a new energy.”
